Greetings Arch Hunters...today is Arch Wednesday! (Issue #19)
Worldwide arch count: 6086 (Net Change: +21)
Each week we update the World Arch Database (WAD) with newly reported arches as well as more accurate data and/or photos for existing arch entries. Each Wednesday (day may vary), we send you a list of the updated arch entries with a summary of what has changed.
For the past 2 weeks I (Stone Canyon)
have been whipping around the Whipple Mountains in eastern California,
USA on arch hunting expeditions. Yes, I told you to expect an "Arch
Wednesday" email on Sunday, December 23, 2012, but I got sucked into
hunting for a few more arches instead! I have entered all of the arch
data for the Whipple Mountains I have so far, including the strange and
interesting Caricature Arch pictured above. Search US>CA>location
I was also successful in finding more arches in the Buckskin Mtns of
Arizona, which will be featured in next week's Arch Wednesday, along
with two arches Mr. Larry Beck showed me in the Bouse Hills
near Bouse, AZ and others.
Coming up in 2013 (if we make it that far!): Largest Arches Inventory Project (LAIP)
During the early part of 2013, we'll be focusing on updates for the biggest arches in the world, defined in the World Arch Database as arches having a superior Greater Arch Dimension (or GAD).
Happy Arch Hunting!
