Greetings Arch Hunters...today is Arch Wednesday! (Issue #23)
Worldwide arch count: 6095 (Net Change: +2)
Each week we update the World Arch Database (WAD) with newly reported arches as well as more accurate data and/or photos for existing arch entries. Each Wednesday (day may vary), we send you a list of the updated arch entries with a summary of what has changed.
Bad news and good news for the World Arch Database
Bad news: we found a
problem with the display of information on how to get to the arches
(the directions, please!). Not all of the text for these data fields
was displaying. We wouldn't want any arch hunters to get stymied, so we
spent much of this week's updating effort toward fixing the
Good news: Problem
fixed. All directions to the arches are displaying properly
now. Still no guarantee those directions are correct! (they don't
call it arch finding...)
As promised, we've now entered the data and photos for the
two arches we found in Papago Park in the city of Phoenix, Arizona,
USA. (data and photos by Stone Canyon). Search
US>AZ>location keyword "Papago"
We've had to delay the start of the Largest Arches Inventory Project (LAIP) until next week. We'll be focusing on updates for the largest arches in the world, defined in the World Arch Database as arches having a superior Greater Arch Dimension (or GAD).
Happy Arch Hunting!
